karate for children

We are pleased by the great interest in our club. Currently, we lack the capacity to offer meaningful training for additional participants. We have a waiting list. Feel free to send us an email. We will get in touch with you as soon as a spot becomes available.

club

Mu Shin Kai e.V. has been dedicated to traditional Karate-Do in the Shito-Ryu style since its founding in 1994. Founded by Kenwa Mabuni in 1934 and further developed by his son Kenei, Shito-Ryu is one of the four major styles in Karate. The club is composed of members from all professional and age groups. This repeatedly demonstrates how well different life experiences complement each other in the dojo. Of central importance are the desire and commitment to engage intensively with oneself. In this way, acquired skills and insights, such as more objective self-assessment, physical resilience, and flexibility in decision-making situations, can be transferred or applied to everyday life (work, social environment...). The club is led by Tarik Witt, Jonas Greulich, and Alexander Wald. All three are students of Tom Witt. Our dojo (training room) is located in the "Lychi" at Lychener Straße 75 / Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. If you are interested, you can arrange a trial training session by phone or email.

空手 leere Hand

Kara Te Do, the Way of the Empty Hand, is a martial art developed on Okinawa. Besides the obvious aspect of defending against attacks, Karate Do serves the development of a healthy and strong character. The fighting aspect lies primarily in recognizing one's own strengths and weaknesses and working on them throughout one's life, no matter how difficult that may be. Karate Do begins and ends with respect. Karate Do is based on three pillars: Kihon, Kata and Kumite. All three aspects must be practiced equally and in harmony.

Kihon (Elementary School)

Kihon is the basic school and therefore a prerequisite for Kata (form) and Kumite (combat). Here, defensive and offensive techniques using all body parts, various leg positions, movement sequences, as well as combinations with and without a partner are practiced.

Kata (Form)

Here, depending on the level, the prescribed sequence of combination techniques is practiced. Each kata contains (sometimes in encrypted form) insights about a particular type of defense or attack. This can be the imitation of animal movements as well as proven combat techniques of a karate master. Important when practicing kata is the knowledge and application of the combat techniques from the kata. If one neglects this, the kata loses its meaning and thus also its rhythm, its dynamics and applicability.

Kumite (fight)

Here, the learned techniques from Kihon and Kata are applied at various levels. Beginners learn through playful combat (light contact with open hands) a feeling for distance, contact and evasion. Advanced students practice different levels. From prearranged combat (with limited techniques) to free combat (application of all learned techniques).
